By Tosin Adesile
Earlier in the week, lots of admission seekers as well as Parent were host at the University of Lagos to protest the injustice meted out of them and their children. It was gathered that students who choose University of Lagos and other name worthy University have to check their status on the school of choice portal whether eligible or not.
Only eligible students are allowed to purchase post U.M.E form. The University management headed by Prof Rahaman Bello quickly issued a newsletter to debunk the claim that it intentionally discredit students who picked Unilag.
The jamb registrar, Prof Dibu Ojerinde, who spoke reacting to the protest, said that, the new move is to help students get admission at other University with fewer choices while also helping them save their money. “He said every intending student want to study Law and medicine. Imagine, eight thousand students applying for medicine while the school can only admit two hundred and fifty. All these led to the new decision, it is not to punish admission seekers but to help them secure admission at school with low cut-off, he said”.
According to Jamb, redistributed candidates are to check their names starting from 31st July, 2015.
