The recent
attacks on the immediate Past Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola by the
current administration headed by Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is a revelations that all
is not well with the duo. I make
A quick
reminder of People Democratic Party affairs at the centre when Obasanjo took
over in 1999, he handed over to Yar’dua in 2007 and later to Jonathan who completed
Yar’dua’s tenure and eventually won himself a single term in 2011 as Nigerian
president and finally led to the party to a state of Comatose due to lack of
focus and concentration. The same is been seen of Ambode currently.
There are
various daunting challenges facing Lagosians which is invariably affecting
average life span, all he is interested in is dragging the name of his predecessor
into the mud. Government is meant to be a continuum particularly the same party
and the first time we are having a government at the federal and Lagos with the
same party which on its own is a plus to address various challenges in the
state.
One of the
challenges faced is the re-opening of the broken part to Dopemu Bridge to
enhance easy flow of traffic which Fashola once did before PDP led Federal
disrupted the idea, enlargement of Iyana ipaja bridge looking at the volume of
cars that passes the road. A pedestrian bridge is needed urgently in some areas
particularly Alimosho Local Government where currently houses many Lagosians.
We have lot
of bad roads on the Ikorudu/Yaba Express way as well as Oshodi/Mushin road
which is currently suffering from neglect as well as other areas. Are these not
enough for a Government to tackle? All these aforementioned things are just tip
of the iceberg while insecurity, unemployment and lack of pipe borne water
should be things of concern to this present government not attacks.
A word is
enough for the wise, whoever is fuelling seed of discord should remember other
party are looking for ways to win Lagos State by all means. No Government is a
saint, I make bold to say this. Babatunde Raji Fashola has done well as a
former Governor and that fact will continue.
It is our
belief that Ambode will also rise to that challenge but for now, Ambode na Baba
Go- so- low.
