The activities of Kick against indiscipline, (KAI) officials over the week received a boost since Lagosians refused to make use of the pedestrian bridge built by the Lagos State Government to avoid imminent death of people who cross the road and get knocked down by speeding vehicles.
In order to ensure compliance, the KAI officials have expedite actions on arresting and prosecuting of people who violate the rule of crossing the bridge. Not only punishments are meted out, offenders are also delayed and kept behind the bars of KAI special enforcements vehicles to tell people not to rush and follow the rule of pedestrians.
At the inception of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, one of the complaints made by people is the need to provide more pedestrian bridge in Lagos in certain areas like Berger, Alimosho in which the Governor graciously approved. My question is why do people refuse to pass through the bridge? The Lagos of today has seriously changed from what we used to have since BRF Tenure up till the present governor. They are no nonsense Administrators dragged to politics by faith. The success story for pedestrians is that the bridges are now safe to pass unlike before.
Where is no law, there is no sin but once their law, sin becomes an offence. I therefore appeal to lagosians to please make use of the pedestrian bridges and render KAI officials useless do they can go and find another work to do. On the other hand, I implore KAI officials to prosecute harder offenders, fine them so we can have lesser cases of accidents as well other hazard.
Your Lagos is my Lagos.
